The walk was scheduled for Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 1000 hrs. It wasn't very cold in the morning and Priyanka and me set off from Gurgaon on bike with our cameras and essential supplies (extra battery packs, a water bottle and some grub). We found the place easily. It is actually right on main road right after Andheria Mod bus stop.

As soon as we entered the gate of the park, we got an idea of what lay in store for the day. The place was unkempt and though the monuments are ASI protected, there is no proper parking or any guide available. The park is huge and a significant part of the park is in bad state, though the area around Balban's tomb and Jamali Kamali mosque are still better. The park has some maintained lawns near a structure called 'Metcalf's Umbrella'.

Cricket could be declared India's national religion, there were people with cricket bats and wickets right on the lawns near the mosque and tombs which was disheartening to see, considering that the monuments are a national treasure.

We went exploring through the overgrown part of the park towards the pavilions and 'baolis' and discovered some graves and a mosque pretty much in shambles. Interestingly Abby (Abhishek the photo walk group moderator) and I found a goat who perhaps took a liking to us and followed us awhile.

All in all, the walk though exhausting was fun. The picture set is available HERE
