I spend time on Pinterest regularly and like most parents of a schol going kid, one of the things that I have been pinning is random art and crafts projects.
Helped Riddhie try out one of the simpler projects for her school assignments – a greeting card made using melting crayons method. This was our first attempt and I am intrigued by the way it can be further explored and may do it again on a bigger sheet. Nonetheless, here is the method and the results if you would like to give it a shot.
- Pin your paper on a drawing board. Use a thick recycled sheet so it doesn't burn off during melting.
- Fnd your child’s used and broken pieces of wax crayons and align them in a color pattern you would like.
- Tape the crayons on the sheet so that they are all aligned together. Use a hot air gun to melt them till they are running. (Don't make this a deterrent. Most of these air or heat guns can be purchased in the local market for as less as 300 INR or 5$.)
- Do not move the sheet if you would like straight linear patterns. Use your creativity to bring out a design you want. (I used an old discarded desk clock to cut a heart shaped pattern).
It’s that simple, seriously. And here are the results:
