Why won’t one shrimp share his toys with other shrimps?

- Because he was a little shell-fish (….selfish…duh!!!)

Perhaps the only thing NOT good about shrimps are the shrimp jokes. (Yeah, like the one above). And, what is nice about them are that they are easy to prepare and fun to eat with rice, bread, in a little salad or even on their own.

It was a slow day today and I managed to do a little shrimp stir fry recipe of my own this afternoon. It didn’t require much and the only real effort needed was to get to the refrigerator and use any vegetables lying inside, adding a little salt, pepper, some soy sauce, vinegar and well the usual mix.

What I additionally did was to throw in about half a cup of red wine and some jalapenos giving it the little ‘hot and sweet’ edge. Glad to report that they turned out beautifully with a bowl of sticky rice.

Here is what I did:

# Warmed up a pan with some cooking oil & threw in a clove or two of garlic in.
# Added some finely chopped jalapenos and followed it up with some thick shallots, red pepper, capsicum and carrots (told ya, whateva ya’ll can find in ya ref’getaa)
# Added salt, black pepper, a dash of hot sauce and ran it on high flame for about 5 minutes.
# When the veggies begin to turn a little soft, added the shrimps.
# Kept stirring and tossing till the liquid was reduced and shrimps turned a little brown.
# Added the red wine and let it evaporate on high flame.
# Threw in a dash of vinegar for flavor and some soy sauce for the color before getting the dish off the stove and onto a bed of rice

This is how it turned out to be – I guess it tasted better than it looked when in pan. Go, give it a try :)
